My name is Grace, and I am a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison. I will be returning to Russia (specifically, Ukhta) as an English Teaching Assistant for the Fulbright program for 2011-2012. In 2010, I spent seven months in St. Petersburg, but I found myself yearning to return to Russia for more. I will be back for round two to tackle and explore a part of the country that I haven’t seen, see more parts of Russia that I left uncovered, learn more, grow more, and of course, try to teach English and be a good representative of America. And hopefully, I won’t die in the process!

Here is where the Komi Republic is located.

As you can see, it is absurdly far north.

  1. This is awesome. I’ve spent a total of a month and a half in Ukhta on two separate mission/medial humanitarian trips. I really hope to visit again some day! Thanks for sharing your experiences!
